Permutation and combination (Example & Formula) Definition
Introduction
Counting is a fundamental activity in mathematics.
Permutation refers to the number of different arrangements of a given object, when the order of objects is important.
Combination are related to the number of different selection from a given sets of object in the order of objects in the selection is immaterials.
Fundamental principle of counting
First statement of Addition principle -
suppose one operation can be done in embassies and other operation can be done in and ways with no common way among them. If one of these operation is to be performed then there are m+n and ways to do it.
Ex.1) Restaurant offers five types of fruit juices and three types of milkshakes. If a customer wants to drink how many choices does the customer have?
Ex.2)consider an experiment of drawing a card from a pack of 52 playing cards full storm what is the number of ways in which the drawn card is paid or a club ?
Solution:-
Second statement of Multiplication principle
If an operation can be carried out in m ways and another operation can be carried out in n ways and these two operation are independent or common then n then the result is is m into n ways.
